The New York State Economic Association (NYSEA) encourages undergraduate
economics students to submit their original research paper and present at our
annual conference. The winning papers will be recognized at the conference
luncheon and receive cash prizes:
- 1st place $200
- 2nd place $100
- 3rd place $50
Entrants in the contest must have been an undergraduate student during the
2016-2017 academic year. May 2017 graduates may still enter. Papers may
be singly or jointly authored, but all authors must be undergraduate students.
At least one author must attend the conference in October to present the
research. The paper can be empirical or theoretical in nature, but must
conform to general academic paper conventions as outlined in the
Research Paper Style Guide
on the NYSEA website.
Judges will consider both the written paper and oral presentation at the
conference. The substantive contribution, methods used, literature review
and motivation, and quality of both the written and oral presentation are all
important parts of the evaluation.
To enter the contest, please submit the following by
April 30 May 30
a. Author name(s), school affiliation, and class year
b. Faculty advisor and contact info
c. Abstract of your paper
By July 31, submit your final paper to the same email address.
If your written paper is accepted, you will be notified promptly. Upon
notification of acceptance, please register for the conference by August 31.
