New York State Economics Association

The New York State Economics Association is a not-for-profit corporation organized exclusively for educational purposes. The NYSEA promotes and cultivates scholarly activities in the field of economics in the State of New York by holding annual meetings and seminars, publishing scholarly papers and providing professional and technical contributions to public and private institutions throughout New York State.

The New York State Economics Association (NYSEA) invites paper submission for the 73rd Annual Conference, to be held October 2-3 at New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn, NY.
The conference will begin Friday evening and continue with concurrent sessions and a keynote during the day on Saturday.

Paper/Abstract Submission

NYSEA invites submissions of individual papers or organized sessions for the 2020 conference. Submission in all areas of economics are welcome. Papers related to innovative economic education, sports economics, and New York state economic topics of interest are especially encouraged.

Individual Papers

Authors may submit individual paper abstracts for consideration at the following NYSEA webpage here. You will be asked to submit information including title, author name(s), JEL codes, keywords, and an abstract of no more than 350 words. Submissions are due by Aug 1, 2020.

Complete Sessions

If you are interested in organizing a complete session on a specific topic, please send your proposal to Sean P. MacDonald , NYSEA President, at A complete session generally consists of 3-4 papers with discussants and a session chair. To propose a complete session please provide the following information: the session title; name, affiliation and contact information of the session organizer, session chair, paper presenters and discussants; and 350 word max abstracts for each individual paper in the session. Submissions are due by Aug 1, 2020.

Undergraduate Student Paper Contest

There will be cash awards for the top three best undergraduate student papers. All inquiries and submissions for the UG Paper Contest should go to Please refer to NYSEA UG Paper Contest Flyer for details.

Registration and Payment

All conference participants must register through the NYSEA website under the "Annual Conference" tab, available here. Payment is accepted online by credit card via Stripe. All presenters must register by September 10th to be included in the final program.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received on or before September 6th, 2020 to receive a partial refund. Cancellations received after this date are not eligible for a refund.

Hotel Accommodations

Conference lodging is available at the Hampton Inn Brooklyn/Downtown, 125 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY at the group rate of $249 for a Double bed or $239 King for a king bed, plus applicable taxes. Reservations must be made by September 3rd 2020 to guarantee the rate.
