Information the NYSEA Collects

The New York State Economics Association collects the following information from its members: names, titles, affiliations, addresses, and email addresses. The same information may be collected from vendors or sponsors. In most cases, this information is publicly available from other sources. The NYSEA may collect information directly from its membership, sponsors and vendors through ordinary transactions such as membership fees, sponsor fees, manuscript submission fees, written correspondence and email. Information on searches through the NYSEA web site is collected, but is not traced to the source of the search. Cookies are not used by the NYSEA to gather personal information on visitors to the web site. No other means of tracking visitors to the web site or collecting personal information from visitors to the web site is used by the NYSEA. The NYSEA collects information concerning authors of manuscripts and referees associated with the publication of the New York Economic Review.

What the NYSEA Regards as Public Information

Names, titles, affiliations, addresses, and email addresses of participants, sponsors and vendors may be publicly released in conjunction with organizing and publicizing NYSEA conferences and educational meetings. Names, titles, affiliations, addresses, and email addresses of journal referees and authors publishing manuscripts in the New York Economic Review become public information upon publication of the New York Economic Review in either hardcopy or electronic format.

Financial Information

Access to account information about members, vendors, sponsors or others with whom transactions are conducted is controlled by the treasurer of NYSEA. This information is regarded as private. Access is limited to the treasurer and NYSEA officers on a need-to-know basis.

Disclosure of Member Information

Names, titles, affiliations, addresses, and email addresses of members are not available for public disclosure, except as indicated under “What the NYSEA regards as Public Information.” The NYSEA does not maintain an electronic directory of members on its web site for public use. The president of the NYSEA in consultation with the other officers of the NYSEA may make the membership directory available to outside parties under the following circumstances: to organizations organized for educational purposes with the intent to communicate educational or academic information and offers to the membership that in the opinion of the NYSEA officers is communication beneficial and of interest to the membership. This specifically permits release of the membership directory to professional organizations and entities organizing educational conferences, soliciting scholarly manuscripts, and announcements of grant research opportunities. Release of the membership directory shall be accompanied with a statement of limited use for the information and prohibiting transmission or sale of such information to other parties.
